Kankurō (カンクロウ, Kankurō) is a supporting character of the series. He is a jonin-level shinobi of Sunagakure, and is the brother of Temari and Gaara. Together, these three are known as The Sand Siblings. Kankuro makes his first appearence in Chapter 7 of the manga, and Episode 20 of the anime.

Appearance[]

Kankurō wears a black, baggy, full body suit. He also wears a black hood which covers his head completely, and has cat-like ears and a forehead protector on his forehead. Both this and later outfits are derived from traditional bunraku puppeteer costumes; bunraku puppeteers usually wear black outfits and hoods so as not to distract from their puppets.

Personality[]

One noticeable personality trait Kankuro displays is his apparent hatred of children. However, unlike the main series, this is not as clearly defined. It is also shown that he dislikes needless fighting. Kankuro is very loyal to his siblings: Gaara and Temari. The Three Sand Siblings had already shown they have good understanding and cooperation with each other.

Abilities[]

Kankuros puppets

Kankurō employing his three main puppets simultaneously.

Kankurō is a highly talented puppeteer, able to wield three of his puppets at once. Unlike the main series, he has yet to display amazing feats. However, it is clear that he has different techniques and knows when to use it accordingly.

Ninjutsu[]

Puppet Mastery[]

Kankurō is an excellent puppeteer that can control and modify his puppets to different shapes and forms that are suited to deal with certain fighting styles, strategies or situations. There is a weakness as the chakra threads used to manipulate the puppets can be stolen by another combatant. Not only can he use puppets in battle but items like photographs can be launched at his opponents. He also has his Secret Black Techniques that are effective in a duel.

Rock Lee Wants To Be Friends with Gaara[]

Kankurō and Temari intervenes once Rock Lee moved too close to Gaara with pursed lips. Kankurō and Temari warns Lee to not try anything funny near Gaara, the Kazekage. He would condemn both Lee and Might Guy's lacklustre apology. Guy starts the 138th Annual Leaf vs Sand Alliance Team Building, Barbecue, Cook-off and more so as for both teams to build a better connection. All of the Three Sand Siblings and Team Guy participates in the party, giving their doubtful opinions. Rock Lee was busy watching the aloof Gaara while Guy tries to get their attention through dangerous performance with fire. The rest were excluding themselves away from the party or at least Guy. Might Guy consider ditching the Barbecue for a dance festival but TenTen deplore of that idea at the time which lead Kankurō and Temari being even more confused. Team Guy and the Three Sand Siblings head back to Sunagakure when they heard a shrill cry coming from the village. Sadly, Kankurō and Temari weren't involved in the fight at all afterwards. They bid their farewells after Rock Lee promised Gaara that they would both battle again.

Part 1: Tenten vs. Temari![]

Team Guy VS The Three Sand Siblings

After finishing a mission, Team Guy goes to a tea shop for a break and happens to see the Sand siblings eating dumplings. Gaara explains to them that as the Kazekage, it's his job to visit other villages. As Tenten meets Temari, she gets furious when she was called "incompetent". She recalled the time during the Chunin exams, where Temari beat her. Lee knew how she felt and helped her. They challenged the siblings and Guy as the referee, they have to fight to get the Heaven and Earth scrolls from each other. Neji and Kankurō noticed that they haven't actually interacted with each other and Kankurō politely introduced themselves. He also brought up the contrasting nature between both of them wearing the opposite colour. Kankurō was disrupted by Lee's attempts to disable both him and Temari. In the end, Tenten beats Temari by hitting her with a "Boob Hammer". Team Guy and The Three Sand Siblings departed again.
